Update

I haven't actually been avoiding you, blog. I just have been lazy. And tired. And lazy. So, I have a few ounces of energy in me and no kids at home. (Thanks Dasa...I hope they're behaving. Cross my fingers) I am ready to update.

Does it feel like summer has flown by to anyone else? I can't believe August is here already. It feels like life is stuck on the fast forward button. And the thing is, it's only going to speed up. Yeesh.

Well, here's a bit of what we've been up to:

Eating:

Pretty much the whole month of July I ate. Everything. All the time. We had two family vacations and one friends weekend full of activities which revolved around food. Perfect for being pregnant. Some of the 'new' discoveries (or treats) I've had this summer were:

-doughboys: Jay and Anna make this treat instead of smore's. They're biscuits that you roast over the fire then fill with nutella and raspberries topped off with whip cream.

-smore's in the microwave: I realize this is lazy, but my buddy Jen has the timing perfected so the the chocolate is melted perfectly with the marshmallow.

-tinfoil dinners with cheese sauce: Another Jay and Anna specialty. I love tinfoil dinners. I love cheese. Perfect combination.

Jackson Hole:

Highlights from our Jackson Hole trip:

-Ady riding Salty, her horse, all by herself. (Cam's horse was named Zeke. He was enormous, especially next to little Salty) Ady was a little nervous having to be in charge of Salty. We were trying to make her comfortable and confident, but as the horses started to take off on their memorized trail Salty realized he wasn't in front. Apparently Salty needed to be first in line. As Salty tried to pass all the other much bigger horses he got pushed off the trail into the trees. I could hear Ady yelling, " Somebody....Anybody.....help me. Save me." through her tears. As her dad tried to maneuver Zeke unsuccessfully, the leading cowboy turned around and rescued the damsel in distress. Ady made quick friends with 'her cowboy' and had a great time.

-Anders had a little pony ride with a horse named Tommy. But in true Anders fashion he renamed the horse Peter Pan and was thrilled about his ride.

-Zach's hat: Cam's older brother Zach bought a new hat the first or second day we were in Jackson. He was very excited about it and wanted everyone's opinions. Of course we all loved it and thought it looked good on him. It wasn't until Zach took the hat rafting on the river that we realized he was very protective. Zach was in the boat with Cam, Troy, Gretchen and Matt. While going through the rapids everyone would paddle, but Zach. He would hold onto his hat. So it was no surprise that when the boat tipped (not during a ride through any rapids though) Instead of grabbing Troy to keep him in the boat Zach made the wise decision to hold onto his hat as half the passengers got dumped in the river. Troy was not to pleased with Zach's decision. But made for a night of great storytelling and teasing about Zach and his beloved hat.

Duck Creek Village:

We went to Duck Creek Village up Bryce Canyon with my family for a week this July. It was a gorgeous place to explore.

-We went to Inspiration Point to see the sunrise over the Hoo Doo's. It was breath taking.

-Anders, Ady and Cam explored Mammoth Cave, which Anders renamed as Batman's Cave.

-My mom took the girls into Cedar City and treated us to a relaxing pedicure. My swollen feet were truly grateful.

-We rented ATV's an afternoon. After Cam explained the throttle to Anders he quickly pushed Cam's hands out of the way and gave the four wheeler all the gas he could. Apparently he likes to go fast.

-Ady and Anders had a blast playing with their cousins Spencer and Brandon.
